Spitzer Castle Concerts - "200 Years of Smetana" with the Tomasi Trio

Not only Anton Bruckner, but also Bedřich Smetana, the composer of "The Vltava" and "The Bartered Bride," celebrates the 200th anniversary of his birth this year. For this reason, the renowned Tomasi Trio performs Smetana's Piano Trio in G minor, Op. 15, alongside Haydn's Piano Trio in C major, Hob. XV:27, and Schubert's Violin Sonata in A major, D. 574. Smetana's work was created under the tragedy of the early death of his eldest daughter, Bedříška (Friederike), thus creating a timeless monument to the girl, who was just four and a half years old.

The Tomasi Trio consists of the internationally renowned violinist Markus Tomasi, his wife Margit Tomasi (cello), and pianist Philipp Kronbichler. The newly formed ensemble already thrilled audiences at concerts in Spitz an der Donau and Karlstein an der Thaya last year.
