Red gate

The last of Spitz's seven fortification gates, a 20-minute walk from the historic town center, was captured by the Swedes in the 30 Years' War. The Red Gate got its name from the high blood toll of this battle. Today it is one of Spitz's most famous viewing and meeting points.
